Is twelvebit cheaper than Plausible?
At the entry plan the price is the same at every volume. With revenue, funnels and journeys, twelvebit costs about half: $19 a month at 100k against $39 for Plausible Business. Both plans bill yearly at 10 times the monthly price.
Does twelvebit need a cookie banner?
It depends on the law that applies to you. In cookie mode, the twelvebit script stores a random ID on the device for up to one year, and in the EU and the UK that usually needs consent. In cookieless mode it stores nothing on the device. Plausible says that it uses no cookies and no persistent visitor IDs. See the privacy docs; this is not legal advice.
Can I keep my Plausible history?
Yes. Upload the export zip from Plausible, and the daily totals for pages, sources, countries and devices show in twelvebit. Goals and custom events are not imported, so track them again.
Choose Plausible when
- You want no cookies by default. Plausible sets none and says that you need no cookie banner for it. twelvebit sets two first-party cookies unless you turn on cookieless mode.
- You want to host it yourself. Plausible Community Edition is open source (AGPL), with fewer features than the cloud plans.
- You want a long track record. Plausible has run since 2018 with a team of about ten people.
- You want the smallest script. Plausible states 2.5 KB; the twelvebit script is about 5 KB gzipped.
Choose twelvebit when
- You sell with Stripe, Polar, Lemon Squeezy, Paddle, Dodo Payments, Shopify or WooCommerce, and you want revenue by channel from the payments themselves, not from events that you send.
- You want funnels, journeys and revenue on the smallest plan. On Plausible these are Business plan features.
- You want your coding agent to do the setup with one prompt, and to read the numbers later through an MCP server.
- You want the tracking plan in your repo, as analytics.yaml, reviewed like code.
Move from Plausible to twelvebit
- Start a twelvebit site and paste the setup prompt into your coding agent. Keep the Plausible script while you compare.
- Tell the agent which Plausible goals you use. It adds them to analytics.yaml as events and tracks each one where it happens.
- Import your history: in Plausible, open Site settings → Imports & exports → Export data, then upload the zip in the twelvebit site settings. Goals and custom events are not imported.
- Compare both dashboards for a week. Then remove the Plausible script.
