# Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini

Ask Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini about your analytics in a normal chat. You need no code, no terminal and no API key. You paste one address into the app and sign in to twelvebit.

To set up a coding agent (Claude Code, Codex or Cursor) instead, see [MCP](/docs/mcp).

## The connector address

You find the same address, with a copy button, in your dashboard under **Settings → API & MCP**.

## Claude

Any Claude plan. The Free plan can add one custom connector. Add it on claude.ai or in the desktop app; it then works in the phone app too.

1. Open claude.ai and go to **Customize → Connectors**.
2. Click **+ Add**, then **Add custom connector**.
3. Type the name **twelvebit**, paste the connector address, and click **Continue**.
4. Keep the sign-in settings that Claude suggests, and click **Add**.
5. twelvebit opens in a new window. Sign in, keep **Read only**, and click **Allow Claude**. If no window opens, click **Connect** next to twelvebit.
6. Start a new chat. Click **+**, then **Connectors**, and make sure twelvebit is on. Then ask a question.

- Team and Enterprise plans: an owner adds the connector first, under **Organization settings → Connectors → Add → Custom → Web**. Then each person clicks **Connect** next to twelvebit under **Customize → Connectors**.

## ChatGPT

ChatGPT Business, Enterprise or Edu, or Pro (Pro can use only the tools that read data, which is all that Read only needs). Do the setup on chatgpt.com in a browser.

1. Open chatgpt.com/plugins. Click **+**, then **Add custom MCP server**.
2. Type the name **twelvebit** and paste the description below. Under **Connection**, paste the connector address as the **Server URL**.
3. Set **Authentication** to **OAuth**. Click **I understand and want to continue**, then **Create as a plugin**.
4. Find twelvebit in your plugins and click **Install**.
5. twelvebit opens in a new window. Sign in, keep **Read only**, and click **Allow ChatGPT**.
6. In a chat, type **@**, choose twelvebit, and ask a question.

The description:

~~~text
Website analytics: visitors, pages, sources, goals, funnels and revenue for my sites.
~~~

- ChatGPT warns that it did not review the app. This is normal for an app that you add yourself.
- Business, Enterprise and Edu: you need the **Create plugins with MCPs** permission. Ask your workspace admin if you do not see **Add custom MCP server**.

## Gemini

A personal Google account, age 18 or over, in the US, with Gemini in English and Keep Activity on. Work and school accounts cannot add custom apps yet. Add it on gemini.google.com; it then works in the phone app too.

1. Open gemini.google.com. Click **Settings**, then **Connected Apps**.
2. Under **Custom apps**, click **Add a custom app**.
3. Paste the connector address and click **Next**. Leave **Advanced features** closed: twelvebit registers Gemini without a client ID.
4. twelvebit opens in a new window. Sign in, keep **Read only**, and click **Allow Gemini**.
5. In a chat, type **@**, choose twelvebit, and ask a question.

- To stop it in Gemini: open **Connected Apps**, and under **Custom apps** click **More details**, then **Disconnect**.

## What the app can do

When you sign in, twelvebit asks what the app can do:

- **Read only** (the default): the app reads your analytics, funnels, goals, revenue and setup. It cannot change anything.
- **Read and change setup**: the app can also create and change funnels, alerts, notes and saved segments, and change basic site settings.

The app can never manage your team or API keys, make a dashboard public or delete a site. It can read every site that you can open in twelvebit.

## Questions to try

- "How many people visited my site in the last 7 days, and where did they come from?"
- "Which pages did people read most this month?"
- "Compare this month with last month. What changed?"
- "Who is on my site right now?"

The app tells you the time range of each answer. Ask for another range ("last 90 days", "since 1 September") when you need one.

## Disconnect

Open **Account → Connected apps** in twelvebit and click **Disconnect**. The app loses access at once. You can also remove the connector in Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini.

## If it does not work

- **No sign-in window opens.** Allow pop-ups for claude.ai, chatgpt.com or gemini.google.com, then try again.
- **The app says that it cannot reach the server.** Check that the address is exactly `https://twelvebit.app/api/mcp`, with no space at the end.
- **The app does not use twelvebit.** In Claude, turn twelvebit on for the chat. In ChatGPT and Gemini, type **@** and choose twelvebit. You can also name it in the question: "Use twelvebit to …".
- **You see no data.** A new site shows data only after the first visits. Ask "Is my twelvebit tracking installed?" to check.
